Creating an Audit Loop for Your Freelance Biz

The Audit Loop is a simple 3-step process that’s done every 90 days in your business to improve your customer journey.

We all know, logos don’t sell products.

The experience you provide your customers does.

So we use the Audit Loop as a quarterly reset to fix anything that’s wonky or broken and prevent interference due to broken links and bad UI.

Then you’ll never hear complaints again.

The Audit Loop is a simple 3-step process that’s done every 90 days in your business to improve your customer journey.

Auditing is crucial because…

  • Helps you fix issues your customers have

  • Helps you automate mundane tasks

  • Helps remove unnecessary items in workflows. HOW to audit your business is really simple too…

There are 3 ways to collect data for auditing:

  • Review every client project & document what happened,

  • Collect client feedback,

  • Role-play as your own client & complete the entire process Compile all findings & review every 90 days (using my guide)

Now, let’s cover how to implement an Audit Loop.

Step 1: Audit

First, document your process — every single step is accounted for. You’ll use this as a frame of reference.

Next, create an alias account & walk through your process as if you were your own customer. Make note of anything that’s out of place.

Step 2: Edit & Test

Straight forward, make the necessary changes. I love that Zapier allows you to “ghost edit” now, without disrupting current automated workflows.

Make sure to do a final test with your alias account before publishing.

Step 3: Implement

Publish, duh.

Make time every 90 days to review all feedback from clients & make updates.

If you consistently use the Audit Loop, you’ll create a high-quality experience that turns clients into fans. And that my friends is how to build a referral system (more on that another time).

All of this sounds great, but what about results? From one 90-day audit, I was able to:

  • Reduced client onboarding from 3hrs to 20min

  • Completely automated 3 major client tasks

  • Reduced workload by 30% — or 25hrs per week

What could you do with 10 extra hours every week? What if you could reduce one offer from 3 weeks to 1? Take 1hr this Friday to complete an audit & see what’s possible.
