Getting Started: Work Hubs

Having an accessible and flexible workspace is more important than ever with the rise of remote work. At SYSTMS™, we build digital Work Hubs — a revolutionary approach to provide teams with a collaborative and productive environment for teams, entrepreneurs, and freelancers, in order to change the way we work.

Work Hubs have several advantages for growth-driven teams.

First, the space is strategically equipped with all of the necessary amenities, so each employee can focus on their tasks without worrying about mundane items or losing time searching for information. We spend countless hours researching the way every team works in order to develop a cohesive tech stack that is the foundation of a Work Hub,

Second, we focus on culture within the Work Hub to foster creativity and innovation, while also setting precedence for how users engage with the workspace, regardless of seniority. We believe that including a social aspect to a company’s Work Hub can also help combat the isolation that comes with remote work, and lead to more satisfied workers, better work-life balance, and increased productivity.

Finally, the cost. With more no-code tools and affordable alternatives hitting the market, teams can reduce their tech spend, and shift the budget elsewhere.

As work continues to shift to meet the needs of modern teams, digital Work Hubs are a key player in the health and success of a company. So how do we get started building one?

Every company is comprised of an ecosystem — finance, sales, marketing, projects, education, production… each spoke may differ depending on the type of business.

When developing a Work Hub, each spoke is an equal key player in determining how information is stored, shared, and used. At SYSTMS™, we use our SCT Method™, which stands for SYSTMS™, Culture, and Training to develop the necessary tools and intended actions of the Work Hub.

Let’s break down the SCT Method™:

  • SYSTMS™ — the software & tools used within the Work Hub,

  • Culture — how every user (internal + external) interacts with the Work Hub and,

  • Training — what resources can we create to ease new users into the Work Hub.

The purpose of participating in an SCT Method™ sprint is to better understand how each department operates as a silo as well as collaboratively with others across a company. From there, we’re able to also determine what processes can be improved, removed, and automated for better ROI.

The final step in developing a digital Work Hub is to build a comprehensive tech stack that can be utilized by the entire company. We focus on the following areas: Company HQ (wiki, announcements, meeting notes, tasks, etc.), Project/Client Management, Financial, Sales/Marketing, and Community.

Depending on the company size & need, the majority of these items can live in one single tool, like Notion. However, there are several tools that are just as effective, if not more.

Below is a list we’ve compiled of software and tools we use as a company and/or have built out for other teams.

Company HQ, Sales/Marketing, and Financial

Project / Client Management

  • Notion

  • Slite

  • Kitchen.co is a one-stop shop to manage client projects from invoicing to communication.

  • Paperform is an all-in-one form software to capture data from your audience.

Community / Digital Products

  • Circle is an all-in-one community platform that brings together engaging courses, discussions, members, live streams, chat, events, and memberships. We currently run three offers on Circle, including Workflow of the Month, SYSTMS™ OS, and our Annual Mapping Workshop.

  • Lemon Squeezy is the all-in-one platform for running a SaaS business from payments, subscriptions, global tax compliance, fraud prevention, multi-currency support, failed payment recovery, PayPal integration and more. We use this for everything outside of Circle.

There are incredible tools on the market that can help create a successful Work Hub for any company. The key to building one is to start at the foundation, focus equally on each key piece of the team, and find solutions that inspire creativity, encourage collaboration, and most importantly reduce friction for remote work.
